Southern Earnings, Revenue Beat in Q4 -Breaking

Southern, Investing.com reported Thursday that the fourth quarter beat analyst forecasts with revenue surpassing expectations.

Southern posted earnings per share (EPS) of $0.36 for revenue $5.8B. Investing.com polled analysts and predicted an EPS of $0.3536 for revenue of $4.62B.

Southern shares fell 5% over the first week of the year but are up 7.02% since its 52-week peak of $69.76, which was set January 31. They are outperforming the S&P 500 which is down 6.11% from the start of the year.

Southern is following other Utilities Sector earnings this month

Southern’s update follows NextEra Energy’s January 25 earnings beat, who reported an EPS $0.41 on revenue $5.05B. NextEra Energy forecasts an EPS $0.3897 on revenue $6.25B.

Duke Energy’s fourth quarter earnings per share (EPS) of $0.94 was reported on $6.24B in revenue, which is below the forecast of $0.9615 for $6.53B.
