(Reuters) – Eric Weddle has announced that he will be the head coach for a San Diego high school football team. Weddle retired to win a Super Bowl in Los Angeles with the Los Angeles Rams.
Rancho Bernardo High School announced Weddle will be taking over the role of head coach for the Broncos’ football team at the close of the 2022 season. Weddle was announced after the NFL championship game that he would “retire”.
Two years had passed since Weddle’s retirement. In January, the Rams signed six-time Pro Bowl pick Weddle ahead of their playoff opener.
Weddle, 37, is chasing a title that was lost in 13 NFL seasons. Weddle performed admirably during his playoff run, but suffered a ruptured pectoral in quarter one of the Super Bowl. Weddle ended the game with five tackles.
