NEW YORK (Reuters] – Two Manhattan district attorneys who were leading the criminal probe into Trump’s former business conducts and President Donald Trump have resigned.

Two months ago, Mark Pomerantz and Carey Dunne, Special Counsel, left, less than two month after Alvin Bragg, District Attorney, took over an investigation into Trump’s family business, The Trump Organization.

Danielle Filson (Bragg spokeswoman) said, “We are thankful for their service,” referring to Dunne or Pomerantz. Elle said that an investigation was underway.

Bragg indicated to Bragg that he doubted whether he would pursue a case against Trump. The New York Times reported, citing sources with information about the matter.

Pomerantz and Dunne could not be reached immediately for comment. Pomerantz was brought in by an outside firm to assist with the investigation.

Trump lawyer Ron Fischetti called Bragg’s departures an indication that Bragg wouldn’t face criminal charges, even though it was not official.

Fischetti stated that “in my mind, the case is over.” “There is no doubt in my mind they did it as there wasn’t any case they could prove and they had no reason to stay there.”

Both the Trump Organization and its lawyer Alan Futerfas did not respond to our requests immediately.

These resignations are coming as Letitia James, New York’s Attorney General, ramps up civil investigation into Trump and the company he named.

The state judge gave the order to Donald Trump Jr., his second adult child, and Ivanka Trump last week, to answer questions under oath and in depositions.

Fischetti indicated that Trump’s family will appeal the ruling.

James was a member of Bragg’s criminal investigation in May.

Trump is a Republican who has denied any wrongdoing in the past and stated that both state and municipal investigations were political motivated.

Both James Bragg and Bragg are Democrats. Bragg’s predecessor Cyrus Vance who initiated the criminal investigation and didn’t seek reelection, is also a Democratic.

James spokeswoman, speaking out about the investigation, said that it was ongoing and that there are strong teams working on it.

These probes examine whether Trump has misrepresented his real-estate properties’ value.

Investigators investigate whether bank loans were obtained at aninflated value and tax bills reduced.

Tax fraud and tax fraud were brought up last July against Allen Weisselberg, the Trump Organization’s long-serving chief financial officer.

Dunne described the scheme as “sweeping and audacious” illegal payments. Weisselberg was alleged to have received “off-the-books” payments of millions from the company, which were not disclosed tax authorities.

Weisselberg, along with the company, pleaded not guilty. Both sides are asking for dismissals. Fischetti called the allegations against Weisselberg “minimal charges.”

In September, a new grand jury convened to investigate how Trump Organization values its assets.

Fischetti stated that the term of the grand jury would end in April.

Donald Trump is facing multiple civil and criminal investigations, including one in Georgia. A prosecutor was granted permission to set up a grand jury to investigate the former president’s attempts to reverse the results of the 2020 elections.

Vance’s ex-general counsel Dunne led Vance’s efforts to get Trump’s tax returns.

Pomerantz was a former federal prosecutor and had been working as a consultant on the Trump investigation while on leave at the Paul Weiss law firm.
