DUBAI, (Reuters) – Expo 2020 Dubai stated Friday that it remains open for all countries after Russia invaded Ukraine.

Russia’s prominent pavilion was at the fair for six months, and it will close on March 31. Since the invasion began, Russia has been barred from hosting or participating in large events.

Responding to questions about Russia’s participation in Expo 2020 Dubai, a spokesperson said to Reuters: “Expo 2020 Dubai is a global gathering that brings people together to celebrate human advancement and discuss issues pertinent to our shared future.”

“Expo hosts 192 countries and has invited every country in the world. It remains an open apolitical event for all nations.”

Russia wasn’t mentioned in the email statement.

The world fair will also be held in Ukraine.

For questions about Russia’s participation, the UAE foreign ministry delayed Reuters to Expo 2020. Bureau International des Expositions, which oversees all world expos in the United States (BIE), did not respond.

Russia declared war on Russia Thursday, with approximately 100,000 fleeing major cities as gunfire and explosions rocked the capitals.
