SYDNEY, Reuters – Australia’s Qantas Airways Ltd has announced that it will use an alternate flight route between Darwin and London to avoid Russian airspace following the invasion of Ukraine.

According to a statement, “Given our current circumstances, complexities, and we’re opting for one of our other flight paths that doesn’t fly Russia, while continuing to monitor this evolving situation,” it stated.

Northern Russia flights will instead be flown over the Middle East or southern Europe, which increases flight times by around an hour.
