REUTERS/Kevin Lamarque/File PhotographWASHINGTON, (Reuters) – President Joe Biden will give his inaugural “State of the Union” address on Monday, September 9th, at 9 p.m. EST in the U.S. Capitol, Washington D.C.
Expect the president to discuss his diplomatic efforts to deal with Russia’s invasion in Ukraine, and to explain his plans for fighting inflation. He will ask companies to lessen their dependence on foreign supply chains to produce more products from the United States.
These are selected excerpts of Biden’s remarks that were released by White House just before they were delivered:
VLADIMIR PUTIN
“Putin’s war was premeditated and unprovoked. He rejected efforts at diplomacy. He thought the West and NATO wouldn’t respond. He thought that he could even divide us right here in the home.
“Putin was wrong. We were ready.”
INFLATION
There are two options. Inflation can be stopped by lowering wages and making Americans more poor. “I have a better way to combat inflation.”
Lower your costs and not your wages. America needs more automobiles and semiconductors. America needs more infrastructure and innovative ideas.
