The index fell 1.38% at the NSE close.
These were the best performers of the session Coal India Ltd (NS): traded at 184.80 after the close, up 8.99% or 15.25 point. HDFC Life Insurance Company Ltd. (NS:), which gained 7.19%, or 37.60 point to trade at 184.80. SBI Life Insurance Company Ltd (NS) saw a 5.75% increase or 61.00 point to 1,121.15 late trade.
These were the worst performers of the session. Maruti Suzuki India Ltd. (NS) fell 6.01%, or 499.95 point to close at 7,814.20. Dr. Reddy’s Laboratories Ltd (NS:) declined 5.17% or 210.25 points to end at 3,853.15 and Bajaj Auto Ltd (NS) fell 4.62%, or 163.20 point to 3,367.15.
Tata Steel Ltd. rose 5.54%, to 1,288.50. Titan Company Ltd. was up 1.88% to settle in at 2,592.55. Reliance Industries Ltd. gained 1.67%, to close at 2/398.40.
The worst performers were Maruti Suzuki India Ltd. (BO:) which was down 6.00% to 7,813.85 in late trade, Dr. Reddy’s Laboratories Ltd (BO:) which lost 5.14% to settle at 3,854.15 and Asian Paints Ltd. (BO:) which was down 4.53% to 3,028.80 at the close.
The India National Stock Exchange saw falling stocks surpass advancing by 921-880, and 36 closed unchanged. On the Bombay Stock Exchange however, 1655 rose while 1584 fell, and 111 ended unchanged.
Shares in Dr. Reddy’s Laboratories Ltd (NS:) fell to 52-week lows; down 5.17% or 210.25 to 3,853.15. Shares in Dr. Reddy’s Laboratories Ltd (BO:) fell to 52-week lows; losing 5.14% or 208.80 to 3,854.15.

The April delivery of Gold Futures was lower by 0.90%, or 17.40, to $1926.40 per troy ounce. In commodities trading, crude oil rose by 4.44%, or 4.59, to $108.00 per barrel. The May Brent oil contract was up 4.50%, or 4.72, to $109.69/barrel.
USD/INR declined 0.10% from 75.73 to 75.73 and EUR/INR dropped 0.29% to 85.03.
At 97.59, the US Dollar Index Futures rose 0.19%.
