Investing.com – India stocks were higher after the close on Friday, as gains in the , and sectors led shares higher.

The index gained 0.15% and the NSE rose 0.2% at the closing.

They were the top performers at the session Cipla Ltd. (NS), which rose 5.6% or 56.90 to trade at 1,043.95 by the close. Sun Pharmaceutical Industries Ltd., NS: added 3.3% or 32.45 to close at 902.00 Bharat Petroleum Corp. Ltd. was up 3.72% (13.00 points) to 362.00 during late trade.

These were the worst performers of the session. Nestle India Ltd (NS) fell by 1.82%, or 321.65 point to close at 17,327.45 Maruti Suzuki India Ltd., NS: fell 1.51% to 7,102.55. Tata Consumer Products Ltd. was down 1.07% to 716.45.

The top performers on the BSE Sensex 30 were Sun Pharmaceutical Industries Ltd. (BO:) which rose 3.82% to 902.15, Dr. Reddy’s Laboratories Ltd (BO:) which was up 2.07% to settle at 3,974.85 and ITC Ltd (BO:) which gained 1.81% to close at 236.20.

Nestle India Ltd. (BO) was the worst performer, falling 1.56% to 17,358.10 by late trade. Maruti Suzuki India Ltd. was also down 1.38% to 7,106.65. NTPC Ltd. (BO) was at 0.75% at the close.

Indian National Stock Exchange saw rising stocks surpass declining stocks by 1113 to 6,95 and 33, respectively. However, the Bombay Stock Exchange witnessed 2008’s rise and decline, with 114 remaining unchanged.

Cipla Ltd., (NS:), shares surged to record highs. They rose 5.76% to 56.90 to 1,043.95. Sun Pharmaceutical Industries Ltd. (NS) shares rose to new 5-year highs, gaining 3.3% (32.45 to 902.00). Sun Pharmaceutical Industries Ltd. (BO) shares rose to 5 year highs. They gained 3.82%, or 33.20-902.15.

The implied volatility index of Nifty 50 options was lower by 0.93%, to 25.34.

For April delivery, gold futures fell 0.16% to $1,997.20 per troy an ounce. In commodities trading, crude oil rose 3.67 percent or $37 to reach $109.69 per barrel. The May Brent oil contract rose 3.52 or 3.52, to trade at $112.85 per barrel.

USD/INR increased 0.28% to 75.57 and EUR/INR climbed 0.36% up to 84.09.

US Dollar Index Futures were up 0.3% to 98.63
