BEIJING, (Reuters) –A Boeing (NYSE) 737 MAX plane that flew from Seattle Monday morning is now on its way to China’s manufacturer’s plant. This is a signal the aircraft is getting closer to being able to fly commercially in China after a three year grounding.

According to flight tracking websites, the aircraft was headed for Hawaii in Shanghai Airlines’ livery.

Sources said that it was the first fuel stop in a multiday journey.

Zhoushan is a plant that installs interiors for delivery. This was just a few months prior to the death of MAX in China.

Jefferies analyst Jefferies stated that “if this point to a shipment, it will mark the first MAX Chinese delivery since March 2019 which is important as China has historically represented 17% delivery,” in a note to clients.

China’s aviation regulator presented airlines with a list containing fixes that were required for commercial flight. This was in preparation for its expected return at the beginning of 2012.

However, test flights have not been conducted so far. In addition, more than 100 MAX planes being manufactured for Chinese customers at Boeing locations in the United States were delayed due to this delay.

Boeing did not comment on the MAX flight from Zhoushan to Zhoushan.

According to the statement by Airbus, it said that they continue to collaborate with regulators as well as customers to ensure that MAX returns to service around the world.
