(Reuters) – Eric Greitens’ ex-wife, a former Missouri Governor, has accused him of violence against her and their sons in court papers published Monday.
Greitens responded to the accusations by Sheena Greitens by tweeting a statement (NYSE:) calling Greitens’ allegations “lies”, which were propagated by media operatives.
Eric Greitens (a 47-year old Republican) stated in the statement that he would continue to care for his beautiful sons and fight for truth.
“I seek full custody of our sons, and for their sake I will continue praying for their mother. And hope that she receives the support she requires,” he stated. They divorced in 2020.
Sheena Greitens claimed in court documents that Eric Greitens knocked Sheena to the ground during an argument in their home and stole her keys, wallet and phone.
Eric Greitens was a gunman in her house and took photos of her that violated her privacy. He threatened to kill herself if she didn’t support him during another political scandal.
Sheena Greitens claimed that their then-husband had once “cuffed” their three-year-old son. One of her sons returned from visiting his father in November 2019 with swelling, bleeding gums, and a missing tooth. She said that he had hit him.
Numerous candidates who were seeking to be the Republican nominee for the U.S. Senate against Greitens urged him to quit.
“If you hurt a woman or child, handcuffs are the best thing, and not the United States Senate.” It’s time for Eric Greitens to leave this race,” Hawley said on Twitter.
Eric Greitens, Missouri’s governor in 2017, was reelected in June 2018, but the allegations of sexual misconduct against him forced him to resign. Following the resignation, the couple divorced in 2018.
