Lucid, BYD Co. to Adopt Nvidia DRIVE Platform -Breaking

Lucid Motors, (NASDAQ) and BYD Company (OTC:). Ltd Class A (SZ) are joining the likes Li Auto(LI), Nio [NYSE:], and Xpeng (“NYSE:”) in adopting Nvidia’s DRIVE self-driving technology platform. Nvidia revealed the new clients Tuesday during the GTC conference. This news comes after Nvidia announced in February that it will bring its AI-powered Drive Service to Jaguar Land Rover cars by 2025.

Nvidia’s latest self-driving platform, The Drive Hyperion 9, was also unveiled by the company. Nvidia’s DRIVE Orin Chip has been put into production. It is said to be capable of performing up 254 trillion operations per seconds.

Jensen Huang, Nvidia CEO said that future cars would be fully programmeable and evolve from embedded controllers and powerful central computers. This will allow for AI and AV functions to be delivered via software updates over time and improved throughout the vehicle’s life. Nvidia DRIVE Orin, which has had a tremendous success with the companies that are building the future of EVs, robotics, and truck-based transportation systems, is the perfect AV and AI engine to support the development of the next generation of EVs.
