SINGAPORE — Singapore will ease Covid restrictions including outdoor mask mandates from March 29, Prime Minister Lee Hsien Loong announced in an address on Thursday.

Lee stated that social gathering limits will double from 5 to 10 employees to 10. Lee also said that more employees will be able to return to work and that capacity limits will increase for large events.

Indoors, masks will be necessary.

It appears that the peak of the Omicron Wave in Singapore has passed. On Wednesday, there were 8,940 new cases per day. This is down from the record 26,032 infections that occurred on February 22.

On Tuesday, 92% received two doses of national vaccination program. The boosters were received by 71%.

Most people who are infected with the virus in Singapore experience mild to no symptoms. Nearly 0.3% of those infected required oxygen supplementation within the past 28 days. 0.04% needed to be admitted to the ICU.
