Stock futures inch higher ahead of Fed minutes release

Overnight trading on Tuesday saw stock futures rise as investors awaited the Federal Reserve’s latest policy announcements.

On Wednesday, minutes of the Fed’s Tuesday meeting will be released. Investors eagerly await new information about the Fed’s plans to shrink its balance sheet.

The Dow Jones Industrial Average futures rose by about 30 points or 0.1%. S&P 500 futures added 0.1% and Nasdaq 100 futures ticked up 0.2%.

Stock futures moved after three stock averages fell during Tuesday’s regular session. Dow dropped 0.8% or 280 points. The S&P 500 lost 1.3% and then Nasdaq Composite declined 2.3%.

“It is of paramount importance to get inflation down,” Brainard said during a Minneapolis Fed webinar. Brainard is nominated for vice chair of Federal Open Market Committee.

San Francisco Fed President Mary Daly also pledgedWe share our concerns over inflation and expect rate increases to continue.

Daly explained, “It’s as dangerous as losing a job,” he said.
