To raise funds for the war in Ukraine and its humanitarian aid efforts, last week’s Ukrainian government created its own NFT collections. After a week, however, it is still not clear if the 2,182 NFTs collection has sold out despite all of the excitement.

Amid Ukraine’s ongoing war with Russia, the former became the first country to officially launch its own NFT collection. However, it has not lived up to the expectations of other NFT launches that have been widely publicized and usually happen within a matter of hours.

Initial plans of the Ukrainian government to launch a crypto-airdrop were not realized. NFTs replaced this plan. NFTs were first announced in March. However, it was almost a month before the actual launch.

This collection, titled “META HISTORY Museum of War”, depicts the history of the conflict using artworks that have a top-to-bottom stack of Twitter tweets.

One collectible is the portrait of an airplane enclosed in a birdcage. It represents the European Commission President Ursula von der Leyen’s decision to block all Russian flights from the EU airspace.

Another image depicts several skulls with flowers emerging from them. This is a symbol of Russian soldiers who have lost their lives.

A user has to go on the project website in order to purchase the NFTs. Once it is mint, it will appear on OpenSea.

1051 pieces have sold in the first 24 hours following its launch, according to the Ukraine government. OpenSea had not yet listed 1,600 pieces (in 641 owner’s possession) as of Thursday afternoon.

Ukrainian Ministry of Digital Transformation oversees the sales. Its spokesperson stated that they have amassed more than $600,000.

On Thursday, the META-HISTORY collection’s floor price on OpenSea stood at 0.155 Ethereum with 13.6 ETH secondary trading volume.

Ukraine has received over $70 million in crypto donations since Russia’s invasion on February 24, which dwarfs the $1 million target set for its NFT sales.
