Kusama Launches Tether Token, Powers Statemine Project

Tether Operations Limited is the operator of blockchain platform Tether and has now launched Tether tokens (USDT), on Kusama. USDT will thus be considered with the asset ID 1985 and used for transactions on Statemine parachain.

Parachains, which are individual blockchains that operate in conjunction with an ecosystem, can also be called parachains. Kusama is an extensible network of specialized Blockchains. Statemine, its first Parachain is it.

The parachain acts as a balance-keeper and can hold a wide range of tokens, both fungible or non-fungible. Statemine provides functionality to operate assets, from tokenized artworks to Kusama-network stablecoins. It is designed to offer users better services at lower prices than other solutions. This addresses the security, scaleability and interoperability issues of blockchains.
