EU says its rules apply to all online platforms, “Mr Musk knows this well” -Breaking

AMSTERDAM (Reuters), – On Tuesday, the European Commission stated that it was too soon for them to comment about the Tesla deal (NASDAQ:). Chief Executive Elon Muss has agreed to purchase social media platform Twitter. But, he reminded the EU’s digital service rules which apply to all the major platforms.

Johannes Bahrke from the European Commission said that all of their digital services act applies to major platforms. He added that democratically valid rules are in place to help better safeguard fundamental rights online. Johannes Bahrke spoke at a press conference.

Musk has clinched an agreement to purchase Twitter Inc (NYSE:). On Monday, $44 billion was paid in a deal that would see the control of the platform, which is used by millions and leaders around the globe shift to the global richest individual. Thierry Breton, commissioner for the internal market at the EU executive, said in a tweet: “Be it cars or social media, any company operating in Europe needs to comply with our rules – regardless of their shareholding.”

This is something Musk understands well. Breton said that Musk is well-versed in European automotive rules and can quickly adjust to the Digital Services Act.”

The spokesperson from the Commission said that it was premature to address any potential competition concerns surrounding Musk’s acquisition Twitter.
