Buenos Aires confirms plans to accept crypto for tax payments- Buenos Aires Mayor Horacio Rodríguez Larreta announced that the country plans to accept cryptocurrency for tax payments.

The head of the Buenos Aires Government, Horacio Rodríguez Larreta, will allow cryptocurrencies to use for paying taxes.
Larreta presented his new project called “Buenos Aires +” with the objective “to simplify, streamline and substantially transform the link with citizens and private sector,” he said: “We want to continue modernizing, streamlining, making easier the way in which citizens and the private sector relate to the State.”
The Head of Buenos Aires explains, however that cryptocurrency payments will not be made directly to residents. Instead they will be converted into Argentine Pesos by top-tier crypto companies.
Horacio Rodríguez Larreta said in the statement
The City does not intend to include cryptocurrencies in public accounts. Instead, we have reached an agreement with virtual wallets to offer a different payment method to the ones we have.
Buenos Aires+ has 12 measure plans in place to build a modern and efficient technological state.
Larreta claims that Buenos Aires + will have a digital identification platform during the second quarter in 2022. This will enable civil documents to be issued electronically. A digital identity allows residents to verify their documents, information and records. This will facilitate the administration of applications and procedures.
Larreta stated:
Blockchain technology is protecting all the information flowing at an exponential rate. This technology will be used by the first to protect data.
In other news, added Buenos Aires as its fifth location for its biggest ‘Polkadot Decoded’ annual event. Event is a mixed event which aims to reach a global audience. Polkadot will offer a live streaming video of the event via Polkadot. This is one of the goals for Buenos Aires+.
