This was announced Thursday.
According to the airport, it took this action because of staff shortages. On April 23, the airport experienced major delays due to a strike by baggage handlers.
Schiphol stated in an email that it had asked airlines to cancel bookings and stop accepting bookings for Schiphol during the 2-8 May period.
It stated that “this is an irritating but necessary step to decrease the number of passengers.”
According to the airport, travelers should contact their airline for specific flight information.
Schiphol couldn’t be reached to comment further on the impact of these flights.
Dutch news agency ANP stated that KLM (the Dutch arm of Air France-KLM) expected to cancel several flights Friday.
KLM couldn’t be reached by late Thursday evening for comment.
