Fidelity heir’s wife turns to famed litigator for divorce -Breaking

BOSTON, (Reuters) – The wife of Edward C. Johnson IV has appointed celebrity lawyer David Boies as her attorney in a high stakes divorce case that begins on Friday.
Boies Schiller Flexner LLP, 81, was the founding partner of Boies Schiller Flexner LLP. He represented Al Gore during the U.S. Supreme Court trial over the 2000 recount. According to Boies Schiller Flexner LLP, he would represent Allison Johnson during the divorce trial.
Boies stated that Judge Frances Giordano will be preside over the Johnson Divorce.
Bloomberg has estimated Johnson IV’s fortune to be more than $6Billion. Johnson IV is expected to give opening statements at a Lawrence Massachusetts courthouse for probate and family matters on Friday.
Boies stated that it was expected that the opening statements would provide a detailed explanation of the case. This case is a divorce matter so it addresses the most basic family issues, even economic.
Boies did not respond to requests for details. The case has been sealed by court orders that keep it secret from the public.
Johnson IV, and other members of his legal staff did not respond to messages seeking comments.
While the petition for divorce was filed over one year ago, it had yet to be made public.
Johnson IV serves as a director at FMR LLC (parent company of Fidelity, based in Boston). Johnson IV is Edward Johnson III’s youngest child. Johnson III died at the age of 91 in March. Johnson IV is the chairman of Fidelity and its chief executive.
Johnson IV is a director at FMR LLC and helps to manage a family-controlled empire with $24 billion revenue by 2021, as well as an operating profit $8.1 billion.
Abigail and Elizabeth’s fortunes are worth $21 billion and $6.5 million, respectively.
Boies is well known for his representation of the U.S. government during litigation. Microsoft Corp (NASDAQ:). And for representing Harvey Weinstein, a former Hollywood producer who was later convicted in sexual assault.
