‘Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness’ snares $185 million in domestic debut

It’s been a big start to the summer blockbuster seasons. Disney’sMarvel Cinematic Universe’s latest movie, “Doctor Strange: The Multiverse of Madness”, earned $185 Million domestically in its first weekend. It was the biggest film to be released in 2022.
Paul Dergarabedian (comscore senior media analyst) stated that “nothing can say movie theatres are back better than a Marvel film posting a massive debut.” This is fantastic news for moviegoers, the industry and all the films that will open over the next few weeks.
EntTelligence data shows that “Doctor Strange”, the film with the most viewers since the pandemic began, was seen by 13.5 million people. Current record holder is “Spider-Man: no Way Home”, which had 20.6 millions patrons its first weekend.
The film grossed $265 million internationally in ticket sales. This brings its total global to $450 millions.
The first four months of this year were characterized by a small number of films, but there was a steady flow of highly anticipated new features after “Doctor Strange: Multiverse of Madness”.
The “Top Gun: Maverick,” followed quickly by “Jurassic World: Dominion,” Lightyear, “Minions: The Rise of Gru,” and “Thor: Love and Thunder”. Between now and July 31, all of these movies will be available for viewing.
Shawn Robbins chief analyst at Boxoffice.com said “Doctor Strange” showcases the “global demand for large-screen events, premium formats and shared experiences inside a theater.” It’s the perfect launch for this summer, it sets the tone for strong films over the coming months.
EntTelligence reported that $13 was the average price of a ticket for this film. Premium format tickets were $16.25 and 3D tickets $15.44.
