WASHINGTON (Reuters] – For the next two to three meetings, half-point interest rate increases can be maintained by the U.S Federal Reserve. The Atlanta Fed President stated that the Fed will then evaluate how inflation and the economy are doing before deciding whether any further hikes should occur.

Fed’s approval of a half point hike last week was “already a very aggressive move.” Raphael Bostic, speaking to Bloomberg Monday said that he doesn’t believe we should move more aggressively. He also suggested that a three quarter point increase could be possible.

“I think that we can maintain this pace and this cadence to really observe how markets evolve… We’re going to move several times, perhaps two, or three, depending on how the economy responds. If inflation moves closer to our 2% target then we can stop and take a look at how things are moving.”
