Russia hosted its “Victory Day,” military parade Monday, to celebrate the 77th Anniversary of the Soviet Union’s defeat of Nazi Germany in World War II.

With 2,400 material and armament units, over 65,000 participants were anticipated.

The backdrop to this year’s parade is Russia’s unprovoked invasion in Ukraine. This has resulted in thousands being killed, and more than 5 millions fleeing the country.
