REUTERS/Stefan WermuthMARRAKECH, (Reuters) – The European Bank for Reconstruction and Development will sell its Russian stakes as soon as it can, Odile Renaud Basso, President of the lender said Tuesday.
“We will get out as fast as possible to phase out our portfolio. We are currently working on this. Renaud Basso stated that more information is not possible during a press conference held on the sidelines to the annual bank meeting, which took place in Marrakech (Morocco).
After the Kremlin annexed Crimea and deposited new funds in Russia, 2014, the EBRD did not send any money. The lender holds shares in several Russian companies including the Financial Sector, Credit Bank of Moscow, and MOEX, but not all.
