Fed nominee Cook may get Senate consideration later Tuesday -Breaking

(Reuters) – U.S. Senate Leader Chuck Schumer will call Tuesday to request a procedural vote regarding Federal Reserve nominee Lisa Cook. This would allow for a vote later that day on her confirmation.
Cook’s nomination was stopped last month by Republicans who opposed her because she is too “partisan”. COVID-19 also prevented Democrats from gaining a majority in the Senate that is evenly divided between Democrats and Republicans. Cook is an economics professor from Michigan State University. If confirmed, she would become the Fed’s first Black female governor.
Senate still has not voted on Jerome Powell (Fed Chair) renominated for his current position and Philip Jefferson (Davidson College Dean of Faculty), nominated for a vacant Board seat. They both have bipartisan support.
