Walt Disney (DIS) shares were trading around 4% higher after-hours following the company’s reported Q2 results, with EPS of $1.08 coming in better than the consensus estimate of $1.06. Year-over-year revenue increased 23% to $19.25 Billion. This was more than the $18.36 billion consensus estimate.

Chief Executive Officer Bob Chapek stated that The Walt Disney Company (NYSE 🙂 gained 7.9 million Disney+ subscribers during Q2, and total DTC subscriptions exceeded 205,000,000. Wall Street also saw this as a record.

Disney Parks, Experiences, and Products saw more revenue than double, and Disney Media and Entertainment Distribution saw revenue increase by 9%. The quarter’s direct-to-consumer revenue increased by 23%

CEO Bob Chapek noted that “our strong results in Q2 include fantastic performance at domestic parks and continuing growth of streaming services.”

The shares of Disney fell 32% from the previous year going into these results.
