Chelsea Football Club has signed a partnership deal worth £20 million per year today with Amber Group-backed crypto platform WhaleFin, to become their Official Sleeve Partner from the 2022/23 season.

The blues confirmed on their official website and social media page that WhaleFin’s logo, which features a blue whale, will adorn the kit of both men’s and women’s teams from the beginning of the upcoming season, replacing the Korean car manufacturer Hyundai after four years.

Three is a British telecom firm that the football club may replace as their shirt sponsor.

Amber Group is the Premier League’s original digital asset partner and this historic partnership will allow Amber Group to present WhaleFin for Chelsea fans as well as football fans all over the world.

Guy Laurence, chief executive of Chelsea, mentioned the WhaleFin collaboration:

It is an exciting partnership that will bring us together with one the best digital asset companies around.

Micheal Wu, the CEO of Amber Group stated that the “game’s ability to rally a global audience regardless of culture, language and nationality” can help promote digital assets.

This is the first step for Chelsea in the realm of cryptocurrency. Liverpool has been looking into a crypto company to replace Standard Chartered’s shirt sponsorship (OTC:). Manchester United also announced a multiyear partnership with Tezos blockchain group, whose name will be emblazoned on the team’s training gear.
