PHILADELPHIA – Pennsylvania Lieutenant Governor John Fetterman will not attend Tuesday’s election party as he recuperates from a stroke he sustained during the campaign’s final days.

His campaign stated that Fetterman will not be attending the Pittsburgh rally because he is still in hospital recovering and resting. It said that Fetterman’s wife Gisele and other guests will speak in his absence.

Pennsylvania gives Democrats the chance to win the Senate seat that is currently being held by a Republican, the retiring Patrick Toomey. Democrats are trying to keep their razor thin majority in this chamber at the midterm election on Nov. 8. The party and Fetterman have been shaken by the health scare.

Fetterman will be facing Conor Lamb, a centrist U.S. Representative, and two other Democrats Tuesday. Fetterman stated in Sunday’s statement from Penn Medicine Lancaster General Hospital, that he had suffered a stroke Friday.

Fetterman (52), has surged in opinion surveys ahead of Tuesday’s primary. This surprised political observers, who predicted that Lamb would win.

Fetterman claimed he wasn’t feeling well, but did not acknowledge his symptoms until his wife demanded he be admitted to the hospital. Fetterman stated in Sunday’s statement that he felt much better and had not suffered any cognitive impairments.

Fetterman declared, “I’m on my way to complete recovery.” “They are keeping me here right now to observe, but they should have me out soon.”

On Tuesday, the Republican nominee will be facing a Republican challenger. It is close in the Republican primary. Mehmet Oz (TV wellness star) will face David McCormick(NYSE:), an ex-hedge fund CEO and Kathy Barnette (Conservative commentator).
