(Reuters) – Abbott Laboratories (NYSE:) A recall has been completed by the India unit of the Company’s India facility. The products were made at its troubled Michigan plant in the United States.
Alimentum India and EleCare brands were affected by this voluntary recall. According to Reuters, the recall didn’t affect other Abbott nutritional products in India or Similac products.
Abbott announced earlier this week that it reached an agreement to allow production to resume at its Michigan facility. The plant was shut down in response to reports of infants being exposed due too many bacteria-causing agents.
After the spread of the infection, Similac, Alimentum, and EleCare powdered formulations were recalled by the company. Similac in India comes from Abbott’s Gujarat plant.
According to the spokesperson the Food Safety and Standards Authority of India (FSSAI) has been informed of the recall.
In February, Abbott in the United States recalled the product. This caused a food crisis for American families.
