WASHINGTON, (Reuters) – President Joe Biden is “optimistic” about bipartisan efforts on gun violence legislation. He received a briefing on Tuesday from Democratic Senator Chris Murphy. White House press secretary Karine Jean Pierre said that Biden felt optimistic.
“This type of…coming together from both the sides has not been seen in a long time. Jean-Pierre stated that it’s been many decades. “So, he’s encouraged. He’s optimistic about the things he sees and what he hears.
“He believes that any move forward is important,” she said. She also noted that Biden would still “call for… comprehensive gun legislation.”
