Volkswagen offers pay-offs for employees who quit major Russia plant

(Reuters] – Volkswagen (ETR 🙂 will pay employees who quit their jobs at Russia’s plant if they are willing to do so, reported the Kommersant newspaper on Thursday.

According to the newspaper, the offer (which in certain cases could amount to six-months’ salary) was addressed at 200 workers at Nizhny Novgorod.

Volkswagen had announced that its production facilities at Kaluga and Nizhny Novgorod would be temporarily suspended due to Western sanctions. Vehicle exports from Russia will also be stopped immediately.

Kommersant quoted union sources saying that workers who accepted the offer by June 17th would be paid six months salary. The paper stated that the agreement would include health insurance for up to 2022.
