WTO chief says deals within reach ahead of Geneva meeting -Breaking

REUTERS/Denis BalibouseGENEVA, (Reuters) – The World Trade Organization’s head said Wednesday that the agreement on reducing fish subsidies and sharing vaccines were within reach ahead of a significant trade meeting next week. She expressed hope that any remaining disagreements could be resolved.
Ngozi Okonjo Iweala, Director General of Ngozi Okonjo Iweala stated that if they get just one or two deliveryables it would be good. He spoke to Reuters via telephone. “I believe we are within shouting range of that.”
Around 120 trade ministers representing around the globe are expected to attend the Geneva headquarters of the organization next week. This will, observers believe, be a crucial test for the 27-year old body’s ability strike international trade agreements.
