WASHINGTON, (Reuters) – Denver International Airport Chief Executive Phil Washington has been identified as a leading contender to become the Federal Aviation Administration’s (FAA) chief executive. This was disclosed by a White House official to Reuters on Thursday.

Since March 31, when Steve Dickson retired, the job was vacant for about half of his five-year tenure.

The Seattle Times earlier reported that Washington is the nominee for President Joe Biden and will be announced by the White House within days. Washington spokeswoman referred all questions to White House. They declined comment.
