(Reuters] – Toronto-Dominion Bank stated Wednesday that employees will be returning to their offices this month on a voluntary basis. A formal return was scheduled for June.

The Canadian second-largest lender indicated in an internal memo to Reuters it was preparing to return more than 65,000 employees in the next few months.

North American financial institutions, who were made to reconsider their return-to office plans after COVID cases rose due to Omicron’s rapid spread, are looking for employees to replace them.

TD noted in the memo, “While it anticipates that the virus will remain in circulation with case count moving higher and lower,” public health units now have the ability to manage new waves.

According to the bank, it will make changes and monitor guidelines in accordance with local laws.

Canadian lender Bank of Nova Scotia published similar guidance in February. It allowed employees to return from the mid-March onwards to most of its domestic locations on a voluntary basis.
