© Reuters. Google (GOOGL), will invest $9.5 Billillion this Year in US Offices and Data CentersGoogle (NASDAQ) said it would invest $9.5 Billion in U.S. offices and data centres this year. This plan will provide at least 12,000 jobs by 2022.
According to the tech giant, investment will focus on data centers across multiple states, including Nevada, Virginia and Nebraska. Google plans to also open an office in Atlanta by 2022 and expand its Storey County data center.
While it might appear counterintuitive, we have increased our investment in physical office space while embracing greater flexibility in our work practices. Yet we believe it’s more important than ever to invest in our campuses…” Google said.
In an attempt to end policies that allowed employees to work remotely due to coronavirus, the company is trying to get back workers to its offices in the US, UK and Asia-Pacific.
Google stated that as part of the $1 billion housing promise, it will expand its offices in California and fund affordable housing programs within the Bay Area.
Google contributed $617 billion to U.S. economic activity in 2021.
