WASHINGTON, (Reuters) – Jen Psaki, White House Press Spokesperson declined to comment about U.S. Energy Secretary Jennifer Granholm’s comments on Wednesday regarding a ban exports being a tool for calming oil prices.

Psaki stated to reporters that she would listen to the energy secretary but didn’t know of any new information from the White House.

Granholm didn’t rule out the possibility of a ban in crude oil exports earlier in the day. The 2015 ban was lifted. “That’s a tool that we have not used, but it is a tool as well,” Granholm told a Financial Times conference. A tapping of the Strategic Petroleum Reserve has also been mentioned by Granholm.
