U.S. basketball player detained by Russia is in good condition

A U.S. Embassy representative in Moscow found Brittney Griner, an American basketball player, in good health and allowed her access on Wednesday. Ned Price, a spokesperson for the State Department said that.

Russian authorities have been pressed by the State Department for entry to the sporting star.

Price told CNN in an interview that an official of our Embassy was granted consular access Brittney Griner “within the past few hours,” Price explained.

While it is not known when Griner was arrested, it was reported after Russia invaded Ukraine in February 24th. This dramatically weakened relations between Washington-Moscow.

TASS stated that Griner was held by Khimkinsky Court in Moscow.

Russian Customs Service reported this month that a Russian player had been detained after landing at Moscow’s Sheremetyevo Airport on a New York-bound flight.

The customs agency said that cartridges with liquid with hashish oils were found in the luggage of the player. A criminal case was opened, which could lead to a sentence of between five and 10 years imprisonment.
